Ballet/Creative Combo Description

Creative dance teaches principles of dance such as time, space, and energy, using engaging dance games and activities. Learning these principles lays the foundation for your dancer to eventually have the skills to create their own dances and to think beyond only technique and placement. The overall emphasis is on having fun while learning coordination, balance, rhythm, musical counting, self-confidence, muscle isolation and development, taking turns and following directions. Students will be exposed to multiple movements and musical styles. Students in this class will be introduced to elements in the Ballet programs. This class incorporates the use of props such as balls, scarves, shakers, and lots of imagination! No experience necessary.

What to wear for Creative/Ballet: any dance clothing such as leotards, tutus, etc. or form-fitting clothing such as leggings and t-shirts. Ballet shoes are allowed but not required in a class, barefoot is fine. Tights must be footless since most dancers kick off their shoes after a few minutes and we don't want injuries from slipping.

Modern Class Description

Dancers in these classes further their study of dance principles such as time, space, and energy and participate in improvisation and choreography as well as spend time focusing on technique. This class incorporates elements from many styles of dance enabling the dancers to experience a variety of movements and techniques.  

What to wear for Modern classes:  dance clothing such as leotards, footless tights, and dance skirts, or form-fitting t-shirts and leggings or shorts.  ABSOLUTELY NO JEANS OR JEAN SHORTS. Bras, shirts with sides cut off, or booty shorts are not permitted. 

Ballet Class Description

Ballet classes are the core foundation at Seasons Dance Company for all styles of dance. They focus on developing a solid ballet technique with emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body, and use of arms. Class begins with work at the barre to build strength and coordination, followed by center exercises, culminating in a grand allegro combination or variation. Clear explanations of exercises and theory help students use the ballet vocabulary in a simple, practical way that leads to increased technical understanding, healthy physical development, and lifelong enjoyment. Classical ballet training fosters grace, flexibility, proper technique, music appreciation, and above all else hard work and dedication.  All ballet classes taught at Seasons Dance Company will spend between 30 to 45 minutes at the barre.  Ballet is a requirement for all performing Company dancers.

What to wear to Ballet: Dancers in Ballet 1-4 wear black leotards, pink full footed tights, and pink split sole ballet slippers.  Dancers in Ballet 5 wear any color leotards, pink full footed tights, and pink split sole ballet slippers. Ballet 5 ONLY may wear ballet skirts. Hair in a bun and/or out of the face.

Jazz Class Description

Dancers will learn various styles of Jazz dance. Additionally, dancers will work on perfecting leaps, turns, and combinations with proper alignment and technique.

What to wear for Jazz classes:  dance clothing such as leotards, footless tights, and dance skirts, or form-fitting t-shirts and leggings or shorts.  ABSOLUTELY NO JEANS OR JEAN SHORTS. Bras, shirts with sides cut off, or booty shorts are not permitted. 

Hip Hop Class Description

Hip-hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style, personality, face animation, and expression to the movements. Hip-hop dance requires students to have muscle control, strength, and stamina to successfully perform moves. Therefore the class may include upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more intense movements.

What to wear for Hip Hop Classes classesAny dance clothing such as leotards, tutus, etc. or form-fitting clothing such as leggings and t-shirts. Athletic shoes are recommended but please bring in shoes that are for class use only.

Adult Combo Class Description

Adult classes are fun and light-hearted for both the inexperienced and experienced dancer. Different dance genres offered every week.
